Cal-Royal 9800 ADA Grade 1 Exit Only Rim Device

Cal-Royal 9800 ADA Grade 1 Exit Only Rim Device

The Cal-Royal 9800 is a heavy-duty Grade 1 exit-only rim device for institutions, schools, universities, and commercial buildings. Its chassis-mounted construction and non-handed, reversible design support demanding door hardware applications. For replacement projects, the series retrofits Sargent 8800 Series hardware when used with 9800 escutcheon trim.

ADA Series opening force

The ADA models are specified as compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act and feature a 5 lb opening force. The ADA compliance and 5 lb opening-force specifications apply to ADA products only. Confirm the selected configuration and installation requirements for your opening.

Features and construction

• ANSI standard: A156.3, Grade 1 heavy-duty construction.
• Device type: Exit-only rim device. The broader series also includes surface vertical rod designs; those are a different device configuration.
• Rail and end caps: Brass, bronze, or stainless steel construction. The rail travels in the direction of the door swing.
• Assembly: Chassis-mounted unit construction.
• Handing: Non-handed and easily reversible; the broader series also lists reversible rim and vertical rod devices.
• Trim attachment: Through-bolted trims provide additional security.
• Retrofit: Sargent 8800 Series compatibility using 9800 escutcheon trim; verify the existing preparation and dimensions before ordering.

Panic and fire-exit configurations

The series specifications list UL panic approval and references to UL10C and UBC 7-2-1997. Applicable fire-exit configurations are UL listed for up to 3 hours, including an (A) label rating on pairs of doors up to 8 feet by 8 feet swinging in the same or opposite directions. The series supports single- and double-fire-exit door applications subject to the selected configuration and door assembly.

Choose the panic- or fire-rated configuration required for your opening. A series fire rating does not apply interchangeably to every device option.

Outside trim and ordering

This is the exit-only rim device listing. The series offers multiple trim functions for different outside-access requirements. Lever and escutcheon trims feature Grade 1 construction, with clutch operation on rose trims. Rigid escutcheon trims cover a 161 cutout. Confirm the compatible trim and its required function rather than assuming it is included with the device.

Before ordering, check your device size, finish, door preparation, outside trim, required rating, and ADA model designation.
