Cal-Royal A9860V Grade 1 Surface Vertical Rod Exit Device

The Cal-Royal A9860V Series is a heavy-duty Grade 1 surface vertical rod exit device for commercial door openings. Its chassis-mounted construction and non-handed, reversible design simplify handing selection. For replacement projects, the series lists Sargent 8800 Series retrofit compatibility when used with 9800 escutcheon trim.

ADA Series opening force

The A9860V and AF9860V ADA Series specifications state compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and a 5 lb opening force. These specifications apply to the ADA Series models. Confirm the selected configuration and installation requirements for your project.

Construction and installation features

ANSI standard: A156.3, Grade 1 heavy-duty construction.
Device design: Surface vertical rod. The broader series also includes rim designs, which are a separate device configuration.
Rail assemblies and end caps: Brass, bronze, or stainless steel; the rail travels in the direction of the door swing.
Assembly: Chassis-mounted unit construction.
Handing: Non-handed and easily reversible, as specified for the series rim and vertical rod designs.
Trim attachment: Through-bolted trims for additional security.
Retrofit: Sargent 8800 Series using 9800 escutcheon trim. Verify the existing door preparation and dimensions before ordering.

Panic and fire-exit ratings

The series specifications list UL panic approval and references to UL10C and UBC 7-2-1997. Applicable fire-exit configurations are UL listed for up to 3 hours, including an (A) label rating on pairs of doors up to 8 feet by 8 feet swinging in the same or opposite directions. The series supports single- and double-fire-exit door applications subject to the selected configuration and door assembly.

Select the required panic- or fire-rated configuration. Series fire-rating limits are not the size of every device offered, and fire ratings do not apply interchangeably to all options.

Outside trim selection

The series offers multiple functions with Grade 1 lever and escutcheon trims. Rose trims feature clutch operation; rigid escutcheon trims cover a 161 cutout. Confirm the compatible trim and outside-access function for your installation.
